The Rec In Da 6ix leadership team brings together former athletes, community builders, and cultural innovators united by a shared mission: to use basketball as a platform for empowerment. With diverse experiences across sport, entertainment, and operations, our team combines lived experience with strategic vision to create opportunities for young people. Together, we’re building a movement that connects communities, celebrates culture, and inspires the next generation to thrive on and off the court.
Deji AjayiCo-founder & CEOFirst-generation Nigerian-Canadian from Brampton who turned his basketball journey into a mission. After playing with Dream City Christian and CIA Bounce, he co-founded Rec In Da 6ix to merge basketball, culture, and community, empowering youth to reach their potential.
Daniel AlabiCo-founder & CEOFormer U.S. college basketball athlete whose challenges fueled his mission to create opportunities for the next generation. Through Rec In Da 6ix, he provides mentorship, resources, and events that showcase talent and strengthen community, especially for young Black athletes.
Nana OwoaheneDirector of OperationsFirst-generation Ghanaian-Canadian with experience at Canada Basketball, Royal Crown School, North Pole Hoops, and the CEBL. Passionate about women’s basketball and operations, she helps drive Rec In Da 6ix’s mission by building pathways and expanding the game’s reach across Africa.
